‘Man is where the falling angel meets the rising ape’ – Terry Pratchett
Easily my favourite philosopher. ……
No gods anywhere play chess. They haven’t got the imagination. Gods prefer simple, vicious games, where you Do Not Achieve Transcendence but Go Straight To Oblivion; a key to the understanding of all religion is that a god’s idea of amusement is Snakes and Ladders with greased rungs.” ~Terry Pratchett, Wyrd Sisters
Me – I’m still trying to make myself fit this world. I tried working in PR for a living, and I hated that. Then I tried rearing children. I like it, a lot, but I don’t think I’m very good at it, judging by the amount of help I have to have just to keep me waking up sane every morning. I write poetry. Sometimes. Most of the time I stare into space, and live in my daydreams. So. Thirty years after I left university, I’ve decided to go back as a postgrad. Brilliant decision. Just brilliant. Do something that scares you, I thought. (it’s strangely easier to go back to university than to pick up a spider. But only just).Oh, and stop procrastinating and start writing, I thought. I think too much. So now I have a blog that requires attention, several essays to write, and a sense of humour to locate as well as looking after four children, four dogs, three hens and His Nibs. Fantastic. Now to avoid the spiders of life.
This blog is dedicated to my family, without whom I would be saner but also completely bored. Oh and also to His Nibs, who has a page of his own. Stick around for long enough and you’ll realise why….
